Seized Horse Adoption Event A Success
(PHOTOS AT THE END OF THE POST)
The recent seized horse adoption event was a huge success. 50 of the 51 horses up for adoption were placed and the majority stayed in Yuma County. With the current state of the economy and the even worse state of the horse market, this was an unexpectedly positive result. The goal of the event was certainly met, and the general sentiment of finding good homes was pervasive. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Colorado Humane Society for all of their help and resources. They definitely proved themselves to have the involved animals and the Yuma County taxpayers in mind as they assisted in this case.
Sammy Lammey, the owner of the horses whom they were seized from and charged with cruelty to animals, accepted a plea deal offered by the District Attorney’s Office on Wednesday, the 23rd of November. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for January, 11th, 2012, at 11AM.
