A total of eleven people were arrested this morning in the area during early morning operations that began at 6:30 AM and concluded just before noon. Seven of the arrestees were Yuma County residents. Today’s apprehensions amount to the culmination of an investigation that the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office has been working in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for well over a year.
All of the subjects have been federally indicted for varying degrees of involvement in the distribution of narcotics and firearms, and money laundering. After being booked into the Yuma County Detention Center, all seven of the Yuma County subjects have been transported to Omaha, Nebraska where they will be held in federal custody and advised by the Court of the charges against them.
A search warrant was executed in Wray, where weapons, ammunition, cash, and methamphetamine were seized.
In addition to the subjects apprehended in Yuma County, an additional four subjects were apprehended in surrounding areas of Northeastern Colorado, Western Nebraska, and Western Kansas. The apprehensions were led by the FBI along with several agencies from Nebraska and Kansas, and local assistance from the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, Kit Carson County Sheriff’s Office, Burlington Police Department, and Holyoke Police Department.
A multi-agency task force led by the FBI and consisting of several agencies in the region, including the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, conducted the investigation. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all the agencies whose assistance made this case a success.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
