On October 23rd at around 10:30 PM, the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a possible suicidal person at the Laird Community Center. 23 year-old Nicolas Meisbach from Lincoln, Nebraska called 911 stating that he was suicidal. Upon arriving on scene, the responding deputy found a large fire burning on the stage inside the community center, believed to be set by Meisbach.
Significant damage was discovered to the door on the rear of the community center where it appeared Meisbach had forced entry into the building. Meisbach was arrested and booked into the Yuma County Jail for 2nd Degree Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and 2nd Degree Arson. Due to the felony charges, Meisbach will be held without bail until he is advised of his charges by a District Court Judge.
