On September 16, 2014 John “JR” Raymond Leahy III was arrested after a driving complaint from a citizen lead Deputies to over 4 ounces of methamphetamine in his vehicle. On January 5, 2015 Leahy accepted a plea offer from the District Attorney and was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment in the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Leahy is currently in the custody of the Colorado Department of Corrections while he awaits extradition to Hitchcock County, Nebraska where he is facing charges of First-Degree Murder in the April, 2014 murder of 18-year-old Austin Wright.
