The Heartstrong fire in Yuma County is now fully contained and the evacuation order for the 224 square mile surrounding area has been lifted.  According to Yuma County Sheriff Chad Day, fire crews are still driving around the six by 14-mile burn area to ensure there are no hot spots or flare-ups.  In addition, Day said he is currently waiting on the arrival of the Civil Air Patrol and expects to be up in the air to survey the damage within the next hour.

“The weather is cooperating today and we’re looking at little to no wind until later this evening,” said Day.  “Once we get up in the air we’ll have a better idea of how much damage we’re looking at and be able to understand the full extent of this fire.  We anticipate our crews will be out until we’re confident there is no longer any danger.”

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
